Experts are perplexed by a ‘dinosaur paw’ that was allegedly found on a couple’s lawn.
Laura Moorcroft reported the discovery and firmly believes that it is the leg of a ‘prehistoric’ animal.
I immediately thought it was a dinosaur,’ the woman said according to the Daily Star. ‘We found it in the lawn as my husband and I were returning from a walk. We think the leg, which resembles of a lizard, is prehistoric.”
” ‘Since we are big fans of Jurassic Park, we immediately thought it was a dinosaur,’ Laura continues. ‘Don’t you think it looks like the leg of a reptile?'”
Laura, a 36-year-old woman from Wales, invited her neighbors to speculate after posting a photo online of the discovery. Some thought it was a reptile, such as an alligator, crocodile, or turtle, while others said it was a bird or poultry species.
After many people noticed the resemblance to a velociraptor, she contacted a specialist at Chester Zoo and a local veterinarian. Both affirmed that it was a bird, but neither could identify the species in question.
“We still don’t know what it is,” Laura said. “One of them said it was a pheasant, while the other said it was a turkey. We have security cameras, but they couldn’t capture anything because the animal was too far away in the yard.”
She continued: “The idea of a velociraptor appeals to me. It’s wonderful that everyone thought the same thing. I saw that someone thought it was a gremlin! We didn’t expect something like this to become so popular.”
