In the world, more than 5% of the population – which represents millions of people – suffer from arachnophobia, which is an irrational fear of spiders.
It must be said that these small, hairy, 8-legged creatures generally have a bad reputation due to their alarming appearance, a fact reinforced by horror movies.
Yet spiders, like all other animals, play an important role in the ecosystem.
They are notably predators of various insects and we are happy to know that they can rid us of annoying mosquitoes in the middle of summer.
They themselves are prey for other animals, such as birds and reptiles, which makes them necessary.
Like butterflies and bees, they also have a pollinating function when they move around.
Despite these encouraging facts, no one likes to see spider webs accumulate and spiders settle in the corners of their house.
If that’s your case, and you have high ceilings, getting rid of them can become a complex game.
One simple technique is to attach a cloth to a broom to increase your reach.
Then, all that’s left is to spray repellent substances, but ideally non-toxic to humans, in the corners they prefer to occupy.
Prefer natural elements such as peppermint essential oil, white vinegar, or cinnamon to supermarket chemicals.
These are products that we generally have at home and that are pleasantly fragrant for humans, while their smell drives away pests.
It’s a win-win!
